All About Balance
Our most popular class, this is an educational workshop led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, followed by a brief group balance exercise class focused on fall prevention. Participants will gain insights into the anatomy and physiology of their balance systems, how these systems change with age, and evidence-based interventions to enhance balance.
All About Balance Series
This 4-class series offers evidence-based education and balance exercises. Participants will learn about the anatomy and physiology of balance, factors indicating fall risk, and how to use exercise to reduce that risk. This class explores a greater variety of balance skills and applications, and seeks to improve balance for individuals who have not yet sustained a fall.
Longevity Seminar
Explore the benefits of exercise for longevity and discover simple skills associated with living a long and healthy life. Led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, participants will delve into recent medical studies highlighting reduced mortality and other health benefits of exercise. The session will cover the types, intensity, and frequency of exercise necessary to promote a longer, healthier life.
Inner Ear Workshop
This is an educational session on vertigo, dizziness, and the vestibular system. Participants explore the anatomy and physiology of the inner ear, understand various types of vertigo, the causes of dizziness, and their effects on balance. By the end, participants will be equipped with knowledge to identify potential inner ear issues and maintain inner ear health as you age.
Physical Therapy for Cancer
In this workshop, participants learn about common side effects of cancer and its treatments and how physical therapy can help. The discussion also covers the relationship between cancer and balance, the benefits of balance training and exercise, and available community resources.
Living a Balanced Life
This four-week series, led by a Doctor of Physical Therapy, focuses on the benefits of physical therapy for cancer survivors at various stages of survivorship. Topics include the impact of cancer-related conditions on balance, fall risk screening, and hands-on balance training, with a specific emphasis on how balance affects daily life.
Parkinson Disease: Awareness, Exercise, and Physical Therapy
This event features a presentation on the crucial role of physical therapy and exercise in Parkinson Disease care, disease-modifying benefits of exercise, along with information about local resources specific to Parkinson Disease.
Safe Landing Strategies
This educational workshop demonstrates how to soften a fall, explains the changes in balance systems due to aging, and offers tips to improve overall balance.
All About Balance–
and Chronic Pain
This workshop covers many of the topics in our All About Balance class, with additional information about how chronic pain influences balance. The class also covers the benefits of exercise for chronic pain and imbalance, followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions.
Jog Your Memory
Discover the fascinating anti-aging effects of exercise on the brain in this workshop. Participants will learn about recent research and how to use exercise to improve brain health and combat memory issues.
Chairs & Stairs: A Workshop
Learn what it takes to navigate standing up from chairs and moving up and down stairs with ease. This workshop will cover the anatomy and physics behind these tasks, along with exercise recommendations and tips to improve function.
Our typical rate for these classes is $150/hr, however the Balance Centers regularly donate time and resources for community events, balance classes, and more. Do not hesitate to contact us to learn more!
